Santa brought me a good new book on Maskelyne, astronomer royal, rather maligned as villain in Sobel's book.
This one by the Royal Greenwich museum, edited by Rebekah Higgitt. Offical price £25, but I think Santa got mine cheap off Amazon.
Much more balanced view of the Harrison clock versus lunar debate and Maskelyne's role in all that.
Recommended for lunatics everywhere.
