Dear Fred, there is a very detailed and well researched biography of Maskelyne by Derek Howse ( Nevil Maskelyne - The Seaman`s Astronomer, Cambridge 1989) which has been mentioned recently on this list (I don`t remember by whom). I would rate it "skillful" - at least by my standards of diligence and with respect to quoting the sources carefully. It is - of course - written by somebody from the trade, who knows what he is writing about and therefore probably is not as skillful in telling an Infotainment story. Regards Wolfgang
