My post-doctoral research at MIT involved using the laser retroreflectors left on the moon by some of the Apollo astronauts and placed there remotely by the Soviets. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin deployed the first one during the Apollo 11 mission. http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/~jbattat/apollo/docs/popularPress/scienceAtNasa.html http://www.lpi.usra.edu/lunar/missions/apollo/apollo_11/images/laser_rr_lg.gif http://www.agu.org/pubs/crossref/1981/JB086iB12p11913.shtml -- Richard Langley On 25-Aug-12, at 6:27 PM, Frank Reed wrote: > Off-topic, but worth some conversation, Neil Armstrong died today at > age 82.
