I would need clarification about whether or not a nautical almanac or sight reduction tables qualify as books "on navigation". If so, I would choose the "Long Term Almanac 2000-2050" by our own Dr. Geoffrey Kolbe. It has everything I would need to adequately perform the task well into my later years. If not, I would choose "Bowditch". (I have to go with the 2002 ed., because that's the only one I've ever read.) I am, in fact, still reading and learning from this "Navigator's Bible".

However, my girlfriend and I have what I consider 'more than the average number' of books on a wide variety of subjects. More than half are hers. So, thankfully, I don't think I will be pressed into making this choice anytime soon. :)

    Cheers,

    Sean C.
