We are drifting off topic for which I apologize, but I do like the idea of port and starboard lights down the driveway. Thank you for that. They should be more acceptable to the neighbours than my practice of three short blasts on the airhorn when I reverse out to the road.
I have used red plastic sheets over a suitable lamp for years. The red nail polish was truly a failed field expedient that burned quickly and created nasty fumes in a small boat's cabin. Once and once only.
