I have not used Starpilot but have used Navigator for 7 ot 8 years and found it to be a very good package the is convenient to use.

Prior to that I had been using the ICE (interactive computer ephemeris) that is still available for free from the Hygrographics office web site. It is dated in format but still an excellent program as far as accuracy.

I have compared tables of several days worth of data from ICE and Navigator at times and have found excellent agreement between the two.

I also have for my Palm a package called Astronav and one called CelestnavCelestnav seems to be quite consistent with Navigator and online alamanac sources. Astronav does not seem to be as accurate.

Purely a qualitative judgment but I think you will find the various packages will easily agree to a very large extent with discrepancies at times in the order of +/- 0.1' or 0.2' being rather rare.

Interested to read what others have found.

    Jim

Has anyone used both of the above referenced software packages?
Navigator is $60.00 and Starpilot is $140.00. Would like to know about ease of use, accuracy, interface, depth of features, value and any other comments.
    Thank you,
    Guy
