Gordon Talge asks about navigational errors in the movies. Well, this one isn't exactly navigational, but here goes Whenever I see the old Horatio Hornblower film, I always enjoy the moment when, setting out on a return passage from South America, Gregory Peck, as Hornblower, assures the heroine that she will be back in England "before the first robin". Presumably, the scriptwriter was not C.S.Forester, and presumably neither the scriptwriter, nor Peck, nor the heroine (Virginia Mayo?), nor any of the production team were aware that in England the robin is resident all year round. ------------------------------ george@huxtable.u-net.com George Huxtable, 1 Sandy Lane, Southmoor, Abingdon, Oxon OX13 5HX, UK.
