George H, you wrote: "Given that his sextant altitudes are precise enough to determine latitude to 1 mile, just how good are they required to be to determine his longitude to within 5 miles, as Frank claims he can? A complete error-budget is requested" etc. Well, ya see, George, when you pull out one of these demands and insist that one of us jump through a hoop for you, I generally find myself 'rolling my eyes'. In particular, when you demand that I, myself, jump through a hoop for you, I'm inclined to walk around it and, in fact, ignore it. That said, I am very sorry that my wording has caused you such confusion. I know that this is difficult for you. It's making you run away from an interesting and useful method. So I make an offer to you: tell me what you do not understand... let me know, if you can, what is causing you such confusion, and I will try my best to explain it to you. You seem quite flabbergasted, so I really don't know where to go next with you on this topic. -FER --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
