I'm looking forward to seeing all of you next week (about eight NavList contributors will be attending). There is still plenty of room; we're at 25 attending right now, but the number has fluctuated dramatically --up, down, back up, down, and up again!-- just in the past two weeks. There's an interesting focus on navigation education for the Nav Weekend that has developed recently. These are folks who use celestial navigation during sail-training cruises, including list member Carl Herzog. One of these sailing educators informs me that he has "over 150,000 miles at sea, and the majority of that is with celestial navigation. " That's a lot of celestial! Two other sailing educators will be telling us about using Seller's 18th century epitome of navigation to teach basic aspects of navigation. Great stuff. I'm looking forward to it. For those of you who will be attending, if you need to contact me, you may phone me at any time: 860-eight-five-seven-6951 (text for the middle three numbers helps prevent automated "harvesting" of this number from the net). ALSO, if you are attending and you did NOT receive an email from me yesterday, please contact me directly. I had a service outage for some of my Internet services and a few mails I sent vanished along the way. Thanks! Here's hoping for nice weather. -FER PS:Thinking about jumping on a plane? Southwest often has good last minute deals for flights into Providence (and they need every dime --with the price of jet fuel where it is right now, Emirates may be the only airline left in business by the end of 2009). --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
