Since Jeremy mentioned he lives on Long Island, I thought it might be fun to mention one of the logbooks that's available on the Mystic Seaport web site. It's the logbook of the ship Sabina: http://www.mysticseaport.org/library/initiative/PageImage.cfm?BibID=33159 It is a FASCINATING document of the Gold Rush era, and it's also filled with navigational information. I described this logbook on the list in detail back in July of 2005: http://fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx?i=024812&y=200507 There are quite a few old logbooks available on Mystic Seaport's web site. This is real treasure. These are genuine primary source documents in the history of navigation. By the way, just a reminder that there is now an impressive collection of old books available on Google Books including editions of Bowditch from the 19th century. There's something new every time I search there... -FER --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
