Clearly by discussing solar flares, NavList has caused an eruption on the Sun. Please, next time, could we discuss money raining from the sky? Thanks in advance.

Alas, where most people live today, the northern lights (the most common side-effect of a good flare) are mostly lost in the glow of artificial lighting. Back in 2003 there was a very nice display in the skies above Connecticut, but I found that most people could not distinguish it from light pollution. They could see it, but they were unimpressed.
