Well, one reason for not using a complete name on the big bad Internet (and 
elsewhere) is that a certain degree of anonymity can be a good thing - 
especially given the rampant identity theft these days (not to mention the 
not-so-mentally-balanced people out there).

I would have preferred that you asked first before posting my full name, but I 
guess it's not a huge problem on a mailing list with as small a circulation 
as this one.
