With respect to the message written by Trevor J. Kenchington on 10/16/03

Regarding the conversation on navigation lights.......An interesting note
follows the table in subsection b: "The maximum luminous intensity of
navigation lights should be limited to avoid undue glare. This shall not be
achieved by a variable control of the luminous intensity."

Assuming this to mean that variable resistor's are not to be used to
increase/decrease intensity, has anyone ever seen the application of a
dual-filament bulb, such as those used in automobile brake lights, used for
navigation lights? The ability to momentarily increase the intensity of
nav-light's would be useful in some cases.
