The US Naval Observatory web sight calculates an azimuth of 222.5 for Jeremys nav exercise 3. Gyro error is then 0.5 west and deviation 14.7 east. Perhaps the quadrantal spheres should be adjusted for the inter cardinal headings of 135 and 315 to reduce some of the induced soft iron magnetism of the ship. Which way will the spheres have to be moved?
