    Wright gives the great circle distance from London to Cuzco as:

    "almost 97 degrees, of a great circle that is 1940 leagues or 5820 miles,"  60 miles per degree.

    BTW, what everybody calls a "Mercator" chart should actually be called an "Edward Wright" sice he was the one who created the table of Meridional parts needed to create accurate "Mercator" charts. See:
