    This practice is no longer followed in the US Navy. The only log that
    requires a distance run every 24 hours is the engineering log and they
    want the distance (actual distance steamed, not distance made good) from
    midnight to midnight.

    Doug and Stacy, isn't it true that the Nautical Day is not dead? When I
    was
    doing my navigating, and by training, it was and likely still is the
    convention of most all mariner's to calculate their "Day's Run" from
    "Noon
