Jim Wilson wrote, about the Nautical Almanac Sight Reduction tables-

    | Allan Bayless was actually responsible, although he did acknowledge Paul
    | Janiczek's (spelling) help. The tables are a re-hash of Ageton, first
    | done by Admiral Davies. Allan made them more usable. He did note that
    | getting 44 pages added to the NA was the hardest task he'd ever had. It's
    | too bad that the instructions in the NA aren't his. His were used by the
    | Power Squadron, and are much easier to understand and follow.

I will send Jim a copy of the paper. There seems to be a bit of a
discrepancy between Janiczek and Bayless, about responsibility, in that
Janiczek says no more than- "Among those offering improvements should be
mentioned Dr Allan E. Bayless ..."

    George.
