    It really depends on which camera using which sensor.  Particularly when you use that "modern" qualification, as so-called "full frame" sensors are becoming increasingly common, that approximate the now old 24mm x 36mm film size.  Note that 'approximate', and that the actual conversion factor needs to be known, whether zero or something else, in order to calculate the conversion.  Otherwise you just don't know.

    Thus all that agonising over apparent or other distortion towards the edges of the field was irrelevant in respect of this application.
