On Sunday, I visited a church in a town called Stoke d'Abernon in Surrey, UK. It has a wall that's dated from the 7th century - Saxon.
While walking around, I saw a symbol in some mortar used to shore up one of the corners of the church. The mortar itself seemed like a recent renovation, so I cannot say whether the symbol was something recent (e.g. a gang sign of the Surrey youths) or something older. The actual corner that the symbol appeared on was from a later period - I think post-Norman invasion. The Saxon wall had a replica Mass clock
I attach a drawing I made of it. If anyone knows what this represents, could you let me know.
Thanks!
