Using the two minute Star Finder is the first step in my teaching Celestial Navigation. The calculator or sight form must closely agree with the Azimuth and Height of the Star Finder. If they don’t agree, the 2 minute is easily and quickly checked on and can be trusted to be close. If the two minute is correct than there is an error by calculator or in the sight form. You are correct,The azimuth will be good for most sights.
