Details here: http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/home/42919767.html Visible in North America west of a line running from about New Orleans towards Cleveland (no luck for the east coast). This occultation starts in about nine hours. Sorry for the late notice. This occurs in daylight from the Midwest, but it will be clearly visible in binoculars or a small telescope, even a typical sextant telescope. In California, the entire occultation happens during morning twilight. It should be very pretty since the Moon and Venus are both thin crescents right now. Note that the lines on the maps at the above web site are equivalent to "zero distance" lunar lines of position. Shoot a Sun-Moon lunar at the same time and you can get a second lunar LOP and thus a complete fix. -FER www.HistoricalAtlas.com/lunars --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
