Byron, Would it be possible for you to post a photo of your modified 2102-D? Greg On Aug 6, 12:40 pm, QMCM <byron...@netzero.com> wrote:I have made Modifications to the 2102-D. The starfinder is to difficult for the midgrade and casual observer. My star finder is as accurate, with 2 minute set, no almanac. The way it should be. I made it to teach Celestral Navigation. Astronomer use 2102-D? FROM Byron Franklin 109 Champlin PL N. Newport RI 02840 401 8478954, Byron...@netzero.com Subject: Simplify Celestial Star Finder and Identifier (Patent Pending.) A wide field of NAVIGATORS and ASTRONOMER'S will find this interesting. My name Byron Franklin QMCM (SS) USN retired. MY profession is Nautical Navigation and Instructor; I have 2 radar techniques in pub. # 1310 and a piloting technique named after me in Bowditch 73, presently in the Glossary. I have invented a (easy to use) Star Finder equal to the well known"Rude/NO.2102D" in accuracy, but my innovation can be used by the general public (starting at the middle grade of pubic school and up.) My Star Finder is of the same horizon disk and plotting disk as 2102D, the base disk is very different. It can do the same as the 2102D, star name identification and location of Altitude and bearing of a star or planets in your sky, But, stars with out the use of other reference (Almanac) or formula. (It is Self Contained.) Two minute setup, no formular. The advantage over all other including the Rude /2102 D is: 1. Simple and quick, User need to know only, Latitude and Longitude, date: month, day and time (GMT) of desired observation to set up the Star Finder and identifier in only a few minutes. The User can track the bodies or body in his sky in observer time or further time. 2. General Pubic, (User) includes all Telescope and Sky Watcher, Astronomer, Navigators and anyone interested in studying the Celestial Sphere. (Easy setup will increase interest and telescope sale.) 3. No reference needed, the base disk carries an eternal clock of the date, hour and minutes for the position of the First Point of Aries. You simply add to the time (month/day equable) for Aries, your desired observation time to set the stars and planets in your sky. Planets must be mark in greased in from Almanac; my devise is direct, no formula. 4. The Star Finder was developed to teach Celestial Navigation and ASTRONMY and can graphically demonstrate all parts of the teaching. (Training Aid.) 5. Other information and training available: a. Time of Sunrise/Sunset any position on earth. b. Initial Great Circle course and distance, between two positions. c. Time Zones and conversion between Local Mean Time and Greenwich Mean Time. Background, I have a history of Teaching, improving, developing, and simplifying difficult navigation problems using graphic solutions. Many are being presently taught in various schools and publications. Example America Practical Navigator NO9. See Glossary" Franklin." I m a member of the Foundation for the Promotion of the art of Navigation, one of my goals is to encourage a younger and much greater amount of people Sky watcher \ and those using telescope that could not use the Rude, to be able to use this device. Other similar devises can only be used with an Almanac, formula and a well trained mature Navigator. I have an accurate workable prototype and DVD movies explaining parts and their use in solving problems also a CD with a Microsoft Power Point teaching parts and their use. They are available for inspection. (Patent Pending.) Upon marketing all other Star Finds, will all be obsolete including the Rude/2102D. If you find this interesting please get back to me. Also please send to anyone interested in this. Byron I need help in markting.
