I wonder whether Freiberger factory still makes their sextants.
(I found no proof of this, searching on Internet).
Alex.
P.S. But Freibergers and SNO-T's in good condition can be still
found on e-bay, quite frequently.

Guten Abend Wolgang,
Vielen Dank for the info.
"My specimen festures quite large instrument errors (likely most of it eccentricity) of up to +54""
I am very surprised by the amount of excentricity error. I believed such instruments were not allowed to get out of the factory if the error was more than +/-30" for the regular "trommel sextant model" and even +/- 20" for the "SIRIUS" model.
Did you have your instrument checked on an optical bench as theFreiberger certificate usually says nothing more than "GUT" or "free of errors for practical use".
Gruss
JPP

Jean,
Freiberger is still active making new sextants.
I have one made in 2009 (Serial No not at hand)
their website is somewhat hard to find,
here it is
http://www.fpm.de/lang_en/index.php?c=1&s=nautic
My specimen festures quite large instrument errors (likely most of it eccentricity) of up to +54" which I think is a bit much given the price of around 1000€.
Best
Wolfgang

You can still get new freibergers from authorised dealers, at least in Europe.
