Including the statement that the French commander had two options from his own high command (to scuttle or sail to the US) which were the same as two of the options the British gave to him. This would appear to indicate that he ignored and refused the orders from his own command, preferring to fight his allies rather than surrender his fleet to anyone at all. In the US the name "Gallipoli" was untaught until after a recent movie of the same name. It is normal for victors to rewrite history and omit their own embarassments.
