    The weather didn't cooperate. And Mercury was not 8.6° from the Sun —
    that was actually its distance from the Moon. It's a pity the sky was
    not clear. At the end of civil twilight, Mercury and the Moon were both
    slender crescents about 6° above the western horizon.
    Both bodies are visible again this evening in northern latitudes,
    Mercury a little lower and the Moon quite a bit higher than yesterday.
    The phase angle of Mercury will be 146° and it will be almost exactly
    above the Sun. A clear view to the west down to about 5° will be necessary.
