A less expensive mirror might work well, I cannot say, however re an old saying about "saving" expense, sometimes "less expensive" isn't. The least expensive of all would be a plain mirror, which shouldn't cost more than a few bucks, and might work, who knows.

My set-up, just for conversation sake is as follows. #/4" thk. plywood base, approximately 12" wide x 17" long. Mirror is held on base with masking tape in each corner, my mirror is 10" x 10". Leveling is obtained via 1/4" 20 TPI round head machine screws or bolts, round head down, in "T" nuts, 120 degrees apart.

Randall's results with the Empire Torpedo Level, as I recall, a bit less than $10 at Lowes is most interesting, encouraging too.I will have to give it another try, when I recover from surgery. Getting old sucks. Greg mentioned trying both the Davis and Mirror AH's set parallel to each other, as an error check. Hs for sun shots should be quite close to each other. We shall see. As to the condensation/fogging problem you experience, beats me, I've not experienced any such problem, others perhaps, not that one though.
