Hello Hewitt,
Although I have read "The Mauritius Command" some time ago, I think that the overall geographical descriptions of Mauritius (and at times La Réunion?) Island(s) fairly match the truth, at least as regards the main features of Mauritius (e.g. with the "Morne Brabant being located on the south west part of the island" as I can remember, or details about the battle of Isle de la Passe with the Montagne du Lion).
One of the colored pictures in the book I could read features a Vessel close to the rocky shore, with her Captain (?) in the fore front standing on black lava rock which seems exactly a picture taken from the south "wild coast" some place close to half-way between Mahébourg and Souillac.
Best Regards,
Kermit

Kermit, do you by any chance read O'Brian? I am specifically thinking of The
Mauritius Command. Wondering how his geography squares up with reality.
