That was my fault for not testing the link, and I apologize to those who were stuck with a tedious download of all those images over a slow connection. Before posting a message with links, it's good practice to click all the links in your draft copy to make sure they go to the expected places. The article in question is in the ADS archive. I reached it via the browse page: http://adsabs.harvard.edu/ads_browse.html By clicking obvious links you reach the list of scanned journals: http://adsabs.harvard.edu/journals_service.html If you select one from the list, and enter the volume number in the box at the top of the page (but put nothing in the boxes for page number etc.) a table of contents for that volume appears. For example, the article with Maskelyne's letter is in The Observatory, vol. 34: http://adsabs.harvard.edu/cgi-bin/nph-abs_connect?ref_stems=Obs....34&jou_pick=YES&return_req=no_params&end_year=2008 You can click on any title in the table. (This is probably the best way to create a link to the article, to put in a message.) But for viewing, it's faster to click on the letter that stands for the format you want. These letters are in the table of contents, to the right of the article name. (The table of contents has a link to the list of formats: F = PDF, G = GIF, etc.) Here's the article: http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/1911Obs....34..391. (And this time I *did* test all the links in the message!) -- I block messages that contain attachments or HTML. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
