In November 1911, The Observatory published an old letter from Nevil Maskelyne in which he describes an hour of answering questions before the House of Commons. The subject was Harrison's chronometer versus the lunar distance method. http://articles.adsabs.harvard.edu/full/1911Obs....34..391. By the way, the papers of the old Board of Longitude are in the Cambridge University Library. It's a pity that the documents themselves are not online (particularly since they've been microfilmed), but at least a table of contents is on the web. http://janus.lib.cam.ac.uk/db/node.xsp?id=EAD%2FGBR%2F0180%2FRGO%2014 -- I block messages that contain attachments or HTML. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
