Hello:
Just read an article in Spring/summer Mystic Seaport Magazine
about their extensive (10,000) map collection. Researchers will soon be able to
access most of this online. The G.W. Blunt White Library also has many
rare books. I recommend the article.
For me of particular note, one chart was owned by Captain Joseph
Warren Holmes of Mystic, CT . He holds the record of sailing around Cape
Horn 84 times......wow! The article states this chart shows multiple tracks all
converging at the southern tip of South America.
With recent funding, more and more of this info will be easily
available for study and research. Regards to all.
