I believe I've seen such a photo too, in Shore and Sextant or Sky and Sextant, by John Budlong, don't recall which.
In any event, hereabouts in Pittsburgh, PA. with the temp. being around 10 F or lower, it's to damned cold, in my opinion, to be sitting or standing about, in the great outdoors, messing with a water filled AH, the above water freezing while one looks at it. It was sunny earlier today too, but very cold. To cold for yours truly.
