Having read GL's post, I too wondered about the mercury he mentions. Of course who knows how many years have passed since he made the artificial horizon mentioned, for as you say, things have changed. Of course, on the subject of change, P.O. Ackley once offered the following. "while change indicates movement, it isn't always movement in the direction of improvement".
