Right, when flying more than 3,000 feet above the terrain on a magnetic course of 0° through 179° you must fly at odd thousands plus 500 feet and flying the rest of the circle at even thousands plus 500 feet. See:

Does seem to give altitude to fly by reading your heading. (use for sailors?)
