I recently completed an overhaul of one of my MK IXA bubble sextants (with many thanks to Bill Morris, who constructed the rebuild manual) and took some sun shots last Sunday. I machine custom mounts for each sextant that allows them to be mounted to a levelling head that is attached to a transit tripod, which allows for very steady shots. I have attached a photo of my log book that shows the results - look in the rightmost column that gives the offset - I am very pleased with the results.
