Those of us who want to practice their skills in taking lunar observations - AND live in the right part of the world (!) - will get a special treat tomorrow: On July 17, around 19 UT1 there will be an occultation of Venus by Moon. Of course, the exact timing of the associated phenomena, and whether you can observe them at all, depends on your location. I am afraid our friends in Europe will be out of luck. Moon and Venus will set there before things get interesting. There should be no problem for daylight observation in the Americas with small telescopes or even binoculars and sextants. The sun will be over 40 deg away. Herbert Prinz (from 1368950/-4603950/4182550 ECEF)
