Lunar limb illumination when nearly full?
    From: Peter Monta

Is there an interval around full moon when it's acceptable to use either the east or west limb for distance measurements, in the sense that the illumination on both limbs is close to ideal?

For that matter, right at full moon the illumination point is from the north or south, so there might be tiny slivers to the east and west that are not quite illuminated, making both limbs slightly unreliable.

I imagine the effect (if any) is too small to be of any significance, but I'd like to know something about it.

    Cheers,
    Peter
