    I looked up Frank's initial post. It strikes me what we are measuring is the
    distance between the center of the scope and the reflected image on the
    first pass.
    Then we are moving away to see that the distance remains the same (beams are
    In that post he states, "Poor telescope optics might  present a problem."  I
    remain convinced, at least with my scope and any I have tested, as well as
    the observations of others on the list, that changing the focus can affect
    side error and IE.  So if we focus the scope for the smallest dot, we can
    only check IE at that focus point.  Yes?  So it might not remain the same
    once we refocus for our eyes?
