Minor point I confess :
When at te Naval Academy our CelNav teacher insisted that we should fill out all the "blanks" even with zeroes, such as, if we were to use arcseconds :
61d 36' 00.8" instead of
61d 36' 0.8"
By the way, the very same also holds true when entering Coordinates in our Aircraft Computers, i.e filling out all spaces, even with zeroes, this for formatting reasons too.
Thanks to you, Dave for this very interesting puzzle of yours. I can't wait until I have recovered sufficient time to study it all over.
