Re: Looking to purchase a MKIXB bubble sextant

    Hello Paul, Garret, and All:

I'd also  like to restore a bubble sextant, but a relatively simple one.  I was considering a MK 1X as a first choice and a MK1X A as a second choice.  Navy Mark V as a 3 rd possibility .  In the discussion a  4-5 years ago (before I was on List), which  I found very helpful, I recollect the A-10 and A -12  were simple and excellent but had a few issues: 1. Bubble difficult to replace/reform? 2. A-12 needs the cap enlarged .01" or so ......   Any info would be helpful.

    Thanks l

    Bruce

    Garret-

Take a look at the collection Mark Sudbury inherited. He has a MK1XA for sale – I’m not sure is that is close enough.

p.s. I’m curious – why the MK1XB? I bought an A-12 about a year ago because I wanted something simple that I could restore (which it is – to a fault). What is it about the MX model that interests you?
