    Also try "Measuring America: How an Untamed Wilderness Shaped the United
    States and Fulfilled the Promise of Democracy" by Andro Linklater.  Just the
    kind that CelNav geeky types like us eat with a spoon.  Followed by "Drawing
    the Line: How Mason and Dixon Surveyed the Most Famous Border in America" by
    Edwin Danson.
