Byron: I often wondered about this, I use to have a task of taking a group
to the bridge for a days work of Navigation. I would shoot a round of stars
than point star out to others, they would say "where, Where" and not see the stars until dark and bad or on horizon. I alway thought that I relaxed by eyes
but the days work person would be excited or fucus or consentrated and may narrow the vision. I say that some of the night vision trick help, relax the
eyes and slowly move them to make the body seem to move. This make you get the sight with the best horizon. Them use the dark water to not lose the star to the brighter horizon. See vertical Sextant.
