Re: Longitude from Local Apparent Noon Altitudes

Hi folks, I took 60d 55.0m as max Hs and got 42d 01.0m N Lat and after interpolating to obtain 11 equal altitude shots I got GMT LAN 16-43-54.5 for longitude 69d 59.8m W real close to Bruce's 70d W and Hew's results. The equal altitude method is after LAN to set sextant to AM Hs's and wait for Sun to close to horizon and mark time. This will result in several pairs of AM-PM times and the idea is to take the average of pairs that are close to same value.
