I meant 'important' in the sense of impact for practical use. There is virtually none
for such polynomials. However, I enjoy solving puzzles such as the original question of how to come up with an usable cos() table if moored on a desert island - and doing it within the shortest possible time an with minimal tools. Others, I noticed with a smile, did too.

Well academic would not be a correct description of what I did professionally. Engineer or scientist with a bend for theoretical work would be more accurate. This list seems to attract such characters, FER, for one. I earned my living as an Electronic Engineer for HP from 1973 to 2000 both in Germany and later here in San Diego, CA. Needless to say, working for HP in San Diego was paradisaical for a nerd.

Hanno, you must define 'important'. You are a giant nerd, and should be very proud. Are you an academic?  I am guessing because of your phrase 'for completeness', a lovely scholarly way of saying 'just for fun'. Keep up the great work.
