    ... Nor is it true that we will eventually detect them in the data in the years ahead. All of these earthquake-induced changes are well below the minimum "noise" level in the observational data.

    This article from JPL at the time of the 2011 Japan quake:

    seems to be saying that we might have a shot at detecting earth orientation changes, though probably not LOD.
