folks, COLREGS 25 (c) allows sailboats under sail to show all-around-red 1 meter over all-around-green on the mast, in addition to deck lights. that's what I have ordered because with a rotating mast a tricolor isn't an option. red-over-green is obscure but likely to be noticed. and it is legal, which means professional shipping can figure out what kind of traffic you are - unlike using all-around white or flashing lights or whatever.
