Disconnecting the units from the power source will not always prevent
failure from lightning...this past summer, I was in my shop, which was
struck...some electronic circuits were lying on a workbench not plugged in and
were damaged. Some have sugested placing a spare GPS in an oven to act as a
Faraday cage...this might work.-Ken
