All it just takes is knowledge, I was taught about Unix operating systems on mainframes during late 80's (while in my late teens) and have been using similar systems (Minix, Linux, OpenBSD, FreeBSD, solaris, SUNos, osX...) for about as long. I know persons that run Unix/linux... servers in US (one used to live few miles from here), I just ask one of them for an temporary account and log in to it via SSH then start a remote X session (or use Links, wget or some other command-line tool) and I can then start a download, as far as anyone know I am working on that server, when file is downloaded to that server it is easy to move it to my computer. Recently I helped a person in Japan to get his laptop running correctly in similar manner, I tried to explain on a forum but he did not manage, so I asked for a user account and logged in, from there I found that main trouble was it had tendencies to overheat, so I then persuaded it to run the fan longer and start at a lower temperature, BEFORE it overheated, problem solved. Windows has Remote desktop that can do similar things but is more limited. 2012-07-22 23:10, Marcelo Perez skrev: > How do you log from Sweden to a server in the US
