Huh?  Do I hear my name being taken in vain?  I thought I had managed to keep well out of this increasingly futile discussion.

However, now that I have been dragged into it, IMHO Greg R has a point when he says that this incident follows a pattern, involving objectionable and yes, intellectually dishonest behaviour from George, seemingly designed to rile, and yes; patronisingly expressed in a disparaging manner, followed by piteous moaning from same George about how beastly people are to him, come the inevitable reaction.  Then his most stalwart supporters, principally Fred and Wolfgang, rush to George's defence, assure us that we are indeed being perfectly horrid to poor old Georgey/Porgey and that we should desist forthwith, that he really a kindly old gent who is much misunderstood, etc etc ..

Same old same old .. we've heard it all before, over and over.  Now I am obviously not an independent or impartial observer, but if there are any that fit this description (few enough I suspect, George tends to have a polarising influence) I would invite them to reflect on who is the only common element to all this?  George has even managed to prise harsh (if entirely justified) words out of our determinedly civilised list manager, the impeccably urbane Frank.

That said, the list would be a poorer place without George.  He provides great entertainment, one way and another, apart from anything else.  And I'm still waiting to be sued ...

Interestingly enough, the thread your post references is another case of George attacking another list member (Peter Fogg), and threatening legal action against both him and Frank Reed [NavList 3432]:

[George]: "In another poisonous mailing (Navlist 3365), Peter Fogg has referred to me as "dishonest". That is actionable, against both Fogg himself and also against the list owner, if he has taken no steps to prevent such libels. I have asked for some such action to be taken, in Navlist 3363, but it seems nothing has been done".

Thanks for making my case for me.
