Re: Latitude and longitude around noon
From: Francis Upchurch

```Hi Herman,
Thanks for the email.
Nautical Almanac (NA) 2nd March at time 17.00.00 gives sun GHA 71*59.5', NA
increments for the extra 38 seconds gives + 9.5' =72*8.9' at assumed LAN of
17.00.38
This is quicker and easier than working out EoT and arc to time conversion.
GHA sun has all that already done if LHA =0.
I forgot to mention that this method is only as accurate as the estimated LAN.
So a more accurate LAN estimate (perhaps from the graph or equal altitudes?)
can then be used with this technique to give a better result?
Frank or other sages, please correct me if I have all this wrong!
Best wishes
Francis
Francis can you explain 17:00:00 = 71*59,1°, I cannot understand how you get that?
00:00:38 = 9,5', I can find in the arc to time conversion table.
So pleace explain how quick and dirty works.
Regards,
HermanD
