I've been giving some recent thought to using the analemma in an introductory course, similar to the discussion in my little "Latitude & Longitude" book. In addition to George's problem of reading the analemma to a reasonable precision (maybe a minute or two of arc) is the problem of the plot being valid to that level of accuracy over some years. (I assuming Frank's not thinking of an annually issued analemma.) At least we would need four analemmas to cover the 4-year cycle of 365.25 days/year. Then we need to convert the plotted data to the actual current year of use, similar to what is done in my booklet. Even using this scheme with numerical data, it's not easy to maintain 1' of accuracy. -- JK --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
